Cookie Policy

On our website we use only the cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the service. There are no advertising, tracking or analytics cookies and no third-party cookies on our site. That is why we do not show you a cookie banner and do not ask for consent.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that your browser stores on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise you on your next visit, for example to keep you logged in or to remember your language setting. Cookies cannot run programs or transmit viruses.

2. Which cookies we use

All cookies are set by us (first-party cookies) and are transmitted exclusively to our own servers.

iq_sessionMaintains your login session so that you stay logged in to the member area.Strictly necessary30 days

iq_langStores the language you selected (German or English).Strictly necessary1 year
iq_authDisplay flag that only records whether you are logged in, so that the page can show "My account" instead of "Log in", for example. Contains no login credentials.Strictly necessary30 days

None of these cookies contains advertising or analytics identifiers, and none is used to track your behaviour across other websites.

3. Why we do not ask for consent

Storing and reading these cookies is permitted without consent under section 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have expressly requested: logging in, taking the test and displaying the site in your language. The associated processing of personal data is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (login and test attempt) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (language setting and display flag). Should we use cookies in the future that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent beforehand and update this policy.

4. Cookies on our payment provider's payment page

You enter your payment details on a payment page operated by our payment service provider Stripe. There, Stripe sets its own cookies (for example __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid), which serve fraud prevention and session management and are likewise strictly necessary. Stripe is responsible for these cookies; details can be found in Stripe's cookie policy at https://stripe.com/legal/cookies-policy.

5. Deleting or blocking cookies

You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings or block the storage of cookies. Please note the consequences: without iq_session and iq_auth you cannot log in or will be logged out on every page load, without iq_attempt you cannot continue a test you have started or retrieve your evaluation, and without iq_lang the language is determined afresh on every visit. Instructions on managing cookies can be found in your browser's help section.

6. Changes and contact

We update this policy whenever the cookies we use change. Further information on how we process your data can be found in our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, you can reach us at help@iqhippo.com.
